POST 2121

VFW Post 2121 Members

It's March 2026, I will be 82 years old next month. I have been a member of Post 2121 in Greeley, Colorado for 18 years. For 17 of those years, I was the Quartermaster ushering in many good years and a few bad years as a Vietnam Veteran, 100% disabled. I will not talk about the good years for those years are all about many years where there were some WW II Veterans, some Korean Veterans but many Vietnam Veterans, Vietnam Veterans who were supportive of the Post. But, look what’s happening now, our Vietnam Veterans are getting old, most late 70's and early 80's, not that supportive in their old age. Gone are the old guys but not supportive are the young guys. I do not have the answer as to why our young veterans do not want to get involved with our Foreign War Posts but I can tell you that not only our Post has financial problems but many Posts around the nation are having this problem. We are cutting all costs to remain positive but the real reason is the non-active member, not coming to the bar, not coming to the Post breakfasts, not the Post Dinners, not Post meetings, just not supporting the Post, just wanting to remain paper members. We are working on the answer, but don't have the real answer to this dilemma, we just hope to survive.

Two activities of importance this month are:

1. Saint Pat's Day Celebration. (there are a few of us around). The National Day of Celebration is March 17th. Our day of Celebration is Friday, March 13th . We will be serving Corned Beef and Cabbage from 5:30PM to 7:00PM at the Post (Corned Beef and Cabbage, potatoes, carrots and a roll) all for $9.00. This is one of our annual fundraisers.  Support your VFW.

2. Saturday March 28th is our "VA FILING INFO-SEMINAR COMPENSATION CLAIMS EVENT"
This event is for filing new claims or to increase the percentage rating that veterans already have for compensation. Bring all DD214's and any evidence to support your claim. Time of event is from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Location 2514 7th Ave. Greeley, CO.
