Sergeant At Arms - Navy

1. I enlisted in the Navy in October 1966 and went to boot camp in San Diego, Ca. My company was there over the Christmas holiday. Most of the company elected to go home. I chose to stay at boot camp so I could go home upon graduation.

2. After graduation I went home on leave and the rest of my company went to their first duty station.
3. I went to my first duty station, the USS Parsons DDG-33. Shortly after reporting aboard we left for my first trip to Viet Nam.
4. My next two ships were the USS Hoel DDG-13 and the USS Robison DDG-12 on which I made another trip to Viet Nam on.
5. My next ship, the USS John S. McCain DDG-36 was the ship that I made my 4th and final trip to Viet Nam.
6. I got out of the Navy at the end of my six year enlistment.
7. After being out for 14 months, I decided to re-enlist and change ratings from FTM to MR (Machinery Repairman)
8. After my re-enlistment and rate change, I went from a MR3 to a CPO (Chief Petty Officer) in 5 years.
9. After MR "A" School I reported for duty aboard the USS Orion.
10. After the USS Orion, I served on the USS Hunley, USS Holland and the USS Dixon.
11. In 1985, I went to my 2nd and final shore duty as a Navy Recruiter in Greeley, CO.
12. In 1988, I retired as a Senior Chief after 21 years active duty.
